Bike Britain: Cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats
Editorial Reviews
Book Description
Biking Britain end to end - one day at a time and at your own page - is within the reach of most reasonably fit cyclists, and an unforgetable experience! This book tells you how to do it, as Britain is the perfect place to explore by bike - a compact island with a vast network of quiet roads linking charming villages and historic sites. The book is divided into two innovative sections:
Part I
* details for cyclists coming from overseas
* when to tour
* specifics of cycle touring in Britain
* background information for beginner bicycle tourers
Part II: The Journey
* split into 21 stages laid out in an innovative 4-page format
* photos, maps, an elevation profile and route descriptions
* details on intermediate stops, so stages can be tailored to ability levels
* listings for campgrounds, hostels, bed and breakfasts, and hotels, information centers and bike shops
* photos from each 25 miles along the route for an idea of the countryside and road conditions
* history of places along the tour
This is a great ride for cyclists seeking their first extended ride, or for experienced tourers looking for interesting alternatives. It's also a great read for armchair cyclists.
