Vancouver On Foot Vancouver is best seen on foot. Most downtown sights can be reached within a half-hour (or less) from major hotels; from Stanley Park, at one end of downtown, to Chinatown at the other, is a 30-minute walk. (Do not walk along East Hastings Street, a known drug district.) Street numbers rise as you go westward and northward; even numbers are on the east or north sides of the street. Parking If you do drive, here are some tips for parking: • Parking spaces on downtown streets are limited and parking regulations are strictly enforced. • Limited metered parking is available on non-arterial streets, and parking lots and garages are plentiful. • Posted rush-hour restrictions generally prohibit parking and stopping from 7am-9am and 4:30pm-6pm (times can vary). • Parking signs are colour-coded: green-and-white signs indicate hours when parking is allowed; red-and-white signs indicate hours when parking is not allowed.
