About the Author
Guy H. Scholz is the author of the best-selling book, Gold on Ice: The Story of the Sandra Schmirler Curling Team. Since 1999, he has been a columnist and feature writer for Sweep! magazine, curling's most recognized publication, and has written for a variety of publications on topics ranging from sports to inspiration. He is currently at work on Discovering the Masterpiece Within, a book co-authored with Nashville-based singer/songwriter Claudia Church. Scholz is a six-time national clergy (Friar's Briar) curling champion and has won 1,528 of the 2372 games he has played since he was twelve years old. A native of Saskatchewan, Scholz and his wife, Carla, co-pastor Chinook Chapel, a Congregational Christian church in Calgary, Alberta. They have two children, Anah and Reed. Cheryl L. Bernard is one of Canada's top female curlers, considered by many competitors and experts as one of the top individual shot-makers in the game in the last fifteen years. Bernard is a two-time Scott Tournament of Hearts participant as a skip in 1992 and 1996, finishing second in all of Canada in 1996. She has six top ten finishes on the Canadian Women's Curling Tour and was the 2004 Women's Curling Tour champion. A businesswoman who started her own general insurance agency in 1990, Bernard grew the Calgary-based agency to more than five million dollars in sales before selling it in 2001. Currently, she is the competitive curling consultant for the Canadian Curling Association's National Training Centre and is also an executive of the Canadian Women's Curling Tour.
