A new release, Trees in Idaho, is now available for use in identifying Idaho's trees. Trees in Idaho uses nontechnical language (followed in parenthesis by the frequently used technical terms) so it is easy for beginners to understand, yet is scientifically correct. The book is profusely illustrated with over 1000 original drawings. Major keys are illustrated, improving greatly the ease and reliability of tree identification. Tree parts are illustrated from living material and amplify the written descriptions for each genus and species. Also, included are updated distribution maps, and new tree silhouettes for the tree species. Over 348 kinds of native and cultivated trees can be identified using this book, along with your own patient, critical observation.
Descriptions of each tree make up the bulk of the book. Tree size, winter hardiness ratings, specific instructions for propagation of seeds and cuttings, and culture are added to the descriptions for each species. Diseases and pests reported on the trees are listed and briefly described. The meanings of stem words, making up the genus and species technical names, are provided. A pronunciation of each technical name is given as well as common names.
