Book Description
William Edwards, Ph.D. had a passion about animals that began when he was a child in the raw-nature environmentof Roosevelt, Utah, in the Unita Basin. As a teacher in Roosevelt, and later at Hillcrest High School in Salt Lake city and the University of Utah, he inspired many hundreds of students to see animals in a new and caring way. He brought to his biology classroom, and housed there, many types of animals so students could see them as real living creatures and learn about them. Bill Edwards tells of one such animal in his new book. A prairie dog, orphaned as a tiny baby, was found barely creeping across the road by biology teacher Bill Edwards. Rescued from certain death, kept alive by milk from the family cat, little Perry, with his clever and comical ways, became a treasure to hundreds of students. Being surrounded by animals of every description, Perry did not know he was a prairie dog until a female prairie dog was brought to school to be his companion. No one suspected Pery's destiny. An inspiring and captivating true story.
